How do I write to my sponsored child?

Click here for top tips and guidelines on how to write to your sponsored child - wherever they are in the world. You can also send messages or photos online. Each year, we’ll send you a Christmas card and a birthday card, which you can write a message in and send to your child.

How long will my sponsorship last?

We work with communities for ten years or more, until they are equipped to stand on their own two feet. So when you sponsor a child, you’ll have several years to watch them grow, and see all the change in their community. Your sponsorship will usually last until your sponsored child reaches the age of 18 or leaves education. But it also depends on how long we’ve been working with that community. If you join us later on in the journey, your sponsorship might end sooner, once we’ve achieved what we set out to do there.

If the project where you are sponsoring comes to an end, or your child moves on for any reason, we’ll let you know and give you the opportunity to sponsor another child. This means you'll no longer be able to exchange letters or visit your old sponsored child.

What happens to my sponsored child if I cancel?

If you are thinking about cancelling your sponsorship, please get in touch with us, as there may be other ways in which you can continue your support. The child you sponsor will continue to benefit from the changes in their community and we will do our best to find a new sponsor for them.
