Let’s end child hunger today

Kyiv, Ukraine - “There are no words that can describe how this war in Ukraine is bringing innocent children and civilians to a spiral of misery and suffering. It is tragic to witness the situation”, says Eka Zhvania, Deputy Response Director for World Vision Ukraine Crisis Response.

The recent attack in Kyiv that has hit a children’s hospital must be a wake-up call to the world. These children should never be a part of this war, but they are the ones who suffer the most, their future is in limbo. Ukraine's children, as well as all children in conflict zones, do not deserve this.

UNICEF’s verified number of children’s deaths has reported a forty percent increase in from last year, and this recent tragedy will add up to the list as the attacks continue. The last UN data estimated 600 children were killed and 1,350 injured since the escalation of the war but there are concerns that the number could be much higher.

World Vision’s partners like Ukrainian Foundation for Public Health’s mobile health teams are providing psychosocial support to those affected by this attack, including the survivors, hospital staff and volunteers.

World Vision’s work has reached over 1.8 million people impacted by the ongoing war in Ukraine, over half of them are children, women and the most vulnerable. Over 110,000 of these displaced people being through local partners are from Kyiv, more than 60,000 are children.

With an estimated 17 million in need and the war keep on unabated, there is an urgent need for a united and increased efforts of organizations, donors, various partners, agencies and stakeholders to address the needs of Ukraine’s displaced population, especially the children.
